In 2024, a Healthline (Forbes Advisor) study ranked Alabama 3rd-worst in the nation for mental health care access .

Without financial assistance for treatment, Alabama families are often left with the burden and expense of caring for a loved one in need, or treatment may not happen at all. The Renewal Project relieves this burden.

Alabama ranks 49th in the number of adults who are unable to see a doctor for frequent mental health issues due to costs, according to the Mental Health America 2024 report.

With the funds raised, The Renewal Project provides financial assistance, increasing access to critical counseling, therapy, residential and inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatments, and recovery residences, providing valuable and urgent care to Alabama’s most vulnerable.

Even insured people struggle to access mental health services. Almost 16% of Alabamians who experienced a mental illness in the past year had private health insurance that did not cover mental or emotional problems, compared with roughly 10% nationwide.— Alander Rocha

The Renewal Project raises money to bridge financial gaps for Alabama residents who need mental or behavioral health (including drug and alcohol) treatment, who are underinsured or uninsured, and do not qualify as indigent by the state. This could be your loved one, your neighbor, your co-worker.
